Acylated aromatics are traditionally prepared by the acylation of aromatics with acid chlorides using Lewis acids such as AlCl3, and BF3. These Lewis acids are demanding wasteful and often involves use of hazardous substances throughout production and a treatment of waste streams and emissions. Aplications of zeolites start from its specific pore size which matches a size of many monosubstituted aromatics. Tansient intemediate shape selectivity inhibits polyacylation and deacivation of catalyst. Reaction of anisole with acetic anhydride is carried out over different ratios of Al/Si of ZSM-5 and ZSM-11 and compared. Synthesized zeolites were characterized with XRD, BET, EDX, FT-IR, Pyridine-TPD, UV-Vis. |
