Water-based, Eco-freindly Preparation of Polyimide Particle-containing Lithium-ion Battery Separator |

In recent years, lithium-ion batteries have been developed for mobile devices or electric vehicles. Battery separator is being employed to prevent direct contact of anode and cathode while serving a channel for ion transportation. As traditional polyolefin separators are used because of the low cost of materials there are several issues such as poor thermal properties and wettability. To solve these problems, this study aims to improve thermal and wetting properties of separators by coating polyimide particles synthesized with water on the surface of the separators. In addition, this study shows how to synthesize polyimide particles employing chemical imidization with water. This study also shows how to prepare composite separators in a eco-frienldy and cost-effective way without using organic solvent or ceramic particles. |
