Preparation and thermal properties of epoxy/CNT composites |

In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were treated by a mixture of concentrated sulfuric and nitric acid and functionalized subsequently by amine treatment. The structure of CNTs before and after surface treatment was characterized using elemental analysis (EA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Epoxy/CNT composites were prepared by introducing the CNTs to epoxy resins. The thermal properties of the composites were investigated using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and TGA. As a result, the weight loss of epoxy resins was increased with the addition of acid and amine treated CNTs. The maximum peak temperature of epoxy resins increased by the addition of CNTs. The thermal stability of epoxy/CNT composites was similar to neat epoxy resins. |
