Supercapacitors are being considered for a variety of applications not only in electric vehicles but also in memory protection of computer electronics and cellular communication devices. In the present study, poly(3,4ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT) was polymerized chemically and electrochemically in sequence on a carbon fabric, giving rise to carbon-fabric/PEDOT composite with high electrical conductivity.. The surface morphology was examined scanning electronic microscope (SEM). In the chemical polymerization, monomer solution was prepared by dissolving EDOT and poly(vinyl- pyrrolidone)(PVP) as a binder in 1-butanol and the oxidant solution was prepared by dissolving ferric p-toluene sulfonate(FTS) in 1-butanol. PEDOT coating on the carbon fabric was formed by dipping the fabric into the mixed solution of monomer and oxidant solutions and then polymerizing EDOT. The capacitance properties were investigated with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and charge-discharge tests. |
