Although salt-in-polymer systems have been extensively studied using various polymeric matrices and salts, the majority of the polymer/Li salt mixtures reported have low lithium transference number (less than 0.5). In order to overcome such a low transference number, of particular interest are single-ion conductors where anions are covalently linked to polymers, thereby only cations are mobile. We develop a single-ion conducting silica aerogel, where poly acrylic acid having lithium countercation is anchored covalently, by sol-gel reaction and radical polymerization. Its ionic conductivity and morphology are investigated using impedance measurement and FE-SEM. |
