Recently poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) film widely used as piezosensors and actuators has been reported to be a good candidate for mechanical energy harvesting due to the development of electronic devices consuming ultralow electric power. We have adopted an electrospinning method by which we can prepare a novel, robust, and flexible PVDF nanofiber web (PVDF-NFW) generator. This processing method has many advantages, because a single-step electrospinning of PVDF can eliminate an additional poling process to impart piezoelectricity caused by spontaneous dipole orientation. We have fabricated a PVDF-NFW based generator and accomplished that it would be a very utile device for energy harvesting. We observed the charging behavior of rechargeable battery by imparting periodic pressure. The output power solely depends on the layer thickness of the PVDF-NFW and pressure imparting area.
