Herein, a series of three quinoxaline-based structures was synthesized by the incorporation of trifluoromethyl (CF3) group, which shows a strong electron-withdrawing characteristic, to determine its effect on the intrinsic properties of the conjugated polymers. These structures were modified by the substitution of fluoro and methoxy groups as the electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups, respectively. The essential features in photovoltaic application such as the optical, electrochemical, and structural properties were investigated. Based on the analysis results, the trifluoromethylated polymers exhibit enhanced performance and stability of the devices owing to the capability of CF3 group to enable facile energy level tuning. Therefore, this study presents remarkable insights related to the structure modification and characteristics of the polymers for the application of organic solar cells. |
