Geometry induced orientation of block copolymer microdomains in simple cast films |
초록 |
We investigated the effect of geometry of film casting container with different solvent evaporation rates on the orientation of block copolymer microdomains. The quiescent films of a polystyrene-block-polyisoprene(PS-b-PI) exhibit highly ordered PI cylindrical microdomains when casting from a vessel with non planer bottom surface. 2-D small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS) clearly showed multi-ordered reflections, indicating a highly ordered microstructure. The orientation of the cylindrical microdomains with respect to the geometry of the vessel was also confirmed with polarized optical microscope (OM) and transmission electron microscope(TEM). We examines other type of block copolymers with different microdomain structures such as lamellae and sphere. In addition, we also try to optimize the conditions by changing the interface between block copolymer and vessel surface. The method developed allows us to fabricate a hybrid block copolymer/inorganic nanoparticle composite. The FePt nanoparticles synthesized by a chemical reduction method are selectively segregated into one of the highly ordered block copolymer microdomains when our method applied. |
