Direct formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) has been considered as a prospective power source due to the low toxicity, less fuel crossover, and high energy density. For the anode side, the Pt has been known as an effective catalyst for formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR). However, it has been reported that the Pt catalyst is susceptible to CO poisoning through dehydration (indirect) path in FAOR. And its high cost has also impeded its practical application. In this study, The Au displacement on Ni film was performed with various Au precursor concentration and displacement time. The Au dendrite was grown on the Ni film with high roughness. Then, self-terminated electrodeposition facilitate ultralow Pt loading on the surface of Au dendrite. The loading mass could be controlled depending on number of deposition pulse. From the cyclic voltammetry in HCOOH + H2SO4 electrolyte, the dehydrogenation (direct) path way for FAOR was maximized. |
