A Study on the Performance of Supercapacitors Using Polymeric Precursor-based Electrode Materials with Aqueous and Non-aqueous Electrolytes: Activation Mechanism and Electrochemical Properties |

In this study, activated carbons (APHCs) were prepared by a CO2 activation method from polymer-based hard carbons in order to apply as an electrode material for electric double layer capacitors (EDLCs). Two kinds of each aqueous and non-aqueous electrolyte were used to investigate the relationship between pore structures and the size of electrolyte ions. It was found that the textural properties obtained from N2/77K adsorption isotherm exhibited good correlation with specific capacitance of the samples. Most of all, each of the electrolytes was found to require optimized pores of different sizes to achieve the highest performance. |
