제목 Multicolor, Transparent, Design-it-Yourself (DIY) Electrochemical Displays based on Oxidatively Tuned Ion gels
초록 In this study, we present user-customized, design-it-yourself (DIY) transparent displays based on electrochromic (EC) ion gels containing viologens. The realization of multicolor electrochromic displays (ECDs) indicating balanced color intensity at a certain voltage is not trivial due to the discrepancy of operating voltages and different electrochemical characteristics of each chromophore. To address this issue, we propose a simple but effective strategy, tuning oxidation activity of anodic species (i.e., ferrocene (Fc) derivatives) by modifying pendant groups. We systematically investigate the effects of the prepared Fc derivatives on the behaviors of ECDs. Moreover, to demonstrate user-customizable fabrication concept, referred to as DIY, we draw images using the optimized RGB gel inks and prepare the transparent displays.
