Binary ionic liquid/solvent mixture-based solid polymer electrolytes for electrolyte-gated transistors |

Ion gels are attracting much attention as nonvolatile electrolytes for thin film electrochemical devices due to their high stability and their electrochemical properties. The polymeric host provides mechanical integrity to maintain a solid state in the liquid electrolyte, but at the same time reduces the ion transport and ionic polarization rate. To improve the ionic motion in the ion gels, we investigated the effect of the mixed composition on the various properties of the solid electrolyte by mixing a small molecule to the ion gels. Both the ionic conductivity and the relative dielectric constant of the mixed ion gels were significantly higher than those of the pure ion gel. When such mixed ion gels were applied as dielectrics of gate transistors, mixed ion gel gate devices showed better device performance. |
