Enhanced Activity of Silver Nanoparticles by Electron Acceptors for Facilitated Olefin Transport: Comparison between Tetracyanoquinodimethane and p-Benzoquinone |

Hybrid nanocomposite membranes consisting of activated metallic silver nanoparticles dispersed in a highly permeable poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) matrix were investigated for facilitated propylene transport to separate olefin/paraffin mixtures. Silver nanoparticles were chemically activated by electron acceptors such as p-benzoquinone (pBQ) and tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) to increase interactions with olefin molecules. The hybrid nanocomposite membranes containing TCNQ showed better separation performance in both selectivity and mixed gas permeance than those containing pBQ. |
