Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) and polyamide-6,12 (Nylon 6,12) were extruded with a twin screw core-shell's extruder and their characterizations were investigated. The core-shell filaments were compression-molded at the temperature ranged from the melting point of PBT to the melting point of Nylon 6,12. Thermal properties, morphology & mechanical properties of the core-shell filament were obtained. Our observations of the DSC, crystallization temperatures of core-shell filamentwere found to increaseasthe increase in the amount of Nylon 6,12, but melting point did not changed. Stressstrain curves of core-shell filaments show ductile and brittle behavior, respectively. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) micrograph of the core-shell filament showed the presence of interfacial adhesion’s morphology with the Nylon 6,12 fibrils oriented along the axis. |
