Adhesion properties and thermal degradation of silicone rubber |
초록 |
Silicone rubber is suitable for thermal insulation of rocket motors due to its thermal stability and excellent elastic restoring strength. However adhesive properties of silicone rubber should be improved greatly to be used as thermal insulator because of its low surface tension. Copolymerizations were performed to introduce functional groups to the silicone rubber to induce chemical reaction with the functional groups in the liners and propellants. Peeling tests of the resulting silicone rubbers revealed that incorporation of amine groups yielded the highest adhesion strength and that introduction of carbon black increased further more greatly the adhesion strength. Stability of the silicone rubber against thermal degradation was examined through the activation energy determined by the TGA. Cloisite®clay enhanced the thermal stability of the silicone rubber much more significantly than carbon black did Acknowledgement:Authors are gratefully acknowledging the financial support by ADD |
