제목 | A tiny approach to several issues of a lithium ion battery |
초록 | A rechargeable lithium battery is one of the most advanced rechargeable battery systems commercialized in the world. That’s why we can find it out every place in our daily life, our pockets, our desks, power tools, even in some vehicles at several motor shows. But now it is facing to several challenges, such as high capacity, high power density, safety, and cost. High capacity can make us use our cellular phones or our laptops for a long time without recharging. There are two possible ways to increase the energy density. One thing is to use high capacity electrode materials and the other is to make batteries more compact. It is very useful to charge or discharge a battery for very short time. We don't need to wait for a long time to recharge an electric vehicle and can drive it very fast when it passes ahead or ascends hill. There also are several methods to obtain high power density from thebattery. To use electrode materials with high power density and to design electrodes and batteries are possible ways to improve the power density of rechargeable lithium battery. There is close correlation between battery's safety and battery materials such as cathode, anode, separator and electrolyte. In this talk several approaches to improve the performance of rechargeable lithium battery, especially modification of electrode materials, will be reviewed and discussed through experimental results from KIST and others. |
