Properties of Polymer Photovoltaic Devices based on MEH-PPV:PCBM |

The complementary technology of organic or polymer solar cells is another area that is of intense interest, especially due to the current efforts to develop new sources of power. The most common approach is based on bulk heterojunction formation within the photovoltaic layer using electron acceptor materials along with donor conjugated polymers. Here, we report the fabrication of bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells using blends of poly(2-methoxy-5(2’-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene) (MEH-PPV) polymers as donor material with PCBM as acceptor material. The effect of different solvents on the performance of devices was studied. Further, the effect of insertion of a thin electron transport layer of Alq3 and modified PEDOT were studied. |
