In this study, silicone resin which is widely used in medical fields was modified to improve its blood compatibility. It was modified using hyaluronic acid conjugated with dopamine (HA-DA) or poly(ethylene glycol) conjugated with dopamine (PEG-DA). The structures and the degree of substitution of the polymers synthesized were confirmed by 1H-NMR. The coating surfaces were characterized by contact angle, XPS, ellipsometry, and micro BCA. The in vitro anti-coagulation behavior was investigated by the adsorption of FITC-labeled fibrinogen, platelet adhesion, and activated partial thromboplastin times (APTT) test. In addition, the biocompatibility of surface modified-silicones will be evaluated by rabbit implantation test for tracheostomy tubes. |
