Poly(2-cyano-1,4-phenylene terephthalamide) (cyPPTA) is a wholly aromatic polyamide with para linkage, which is soluble in organic solvents. Owing to its excellence in thermal, chemical and mechanical properties as well as facile processability, cyPPTA has been received much attention from industry and academia for its potential application as a technical fiber. To improve physical properties of cyPPTA fiber and to extend its applications, in this study, we fabricated a series of cyPPTA-based nanocomposite fibers reinforced with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) via an efficient solution-mixing and following wet-spinning technique. The microstructures, thermal stability, electrical conductivity, and mechanical performance of the nanocomposite fibers were then investigated with aids of XRD, SEM, TGA, multimeter, and tensile mechanical tester as a function of the MWCNT content. |
