Polyaniline is one of the promising conductive and conjugated polymers that possess excellent electronic, optical, and redox properties leading to commercial applications such as sensors, electronic devices, rechargeable batteries, corrosion resistant coatings, etc. The linkage of aniline to polymer chain can be easily performed by chemical or electrochemical oxidation of aniline with chemical oxidants or oxidative currents. In this study, several structure-analogues of aniline such as aminopyridines, aminonaphthalenes, aminoquinolines, aminoanthracenes, aminopyrazine, and 2-aminopyrimidine, were tested in their polymerizability through chemical and electrochemical oxidation method. Several oxidants such as ammonium persulfate, benzoyl peroxide, were used in various acidic or alkaline solution. The polymerization mechanism, structure, and properties of polymers were analyzed using diverse spectroscopic methods |
