Solid polymer electrolytes were intended to be applicable to lithium polymer batteries, because of mechanical property, processing flexibility, and safety. However, their conductivity at room temperature is usually too low, so it is needed to overcome this problem. In this work, the composite electrolytes based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and layered fillers were prepared to study the filler effects on the mechanical strength and electrochemical properties. The effect of layer-structured fillers on the tensile strength for polymer electrolyte film was discussed for analyzing the mechanical properties. As a result, the interlayer length of the layered fillers had been changed, and thus the micro-structures and ion transfer had been modified. Furthermore, the ionic conductivity was enhanced with increasing filler contents because of the decreased crystallinity of the composites. |
