Supercapacitor characteristics of electrochemically deposited modified CNT-polypyrrole composite films |

Mutiwalled carbon nanotube (CNT)-polypyrrole (PPy) composites are of interest for supercapacitors because of its high capacitance performance. In this work, modified CNT-PPy composite film was prepared by facile electrochemical polymerization from a mixture of PPy and modified CNT. CNT was modified by grafting of poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) to enhance solubility in polar solvents. The grafted PSS anions also contribute to the PPy polymerization as dopants. The electrochemically deposited modified CNT-PPy composite film is expected to have better adhesion on substrate. The adhesion property was confirmed by analyzing the morphology of modified CNT-PPy composite film via FE-SEM. Electrodes prepared from modified CNT-PPy composite were used in supercapacitors operating in several electrolytes such as organic (1 M LiPF6 in EC/PC) and aqueous (1M KCl). Cyclic voltammometry and charge-discharge analysis was performed to investigate the capacitive property of modified CNT-PPy composite. |
