Role of Solution Processed Niobium doped Titanium Oxide Layer in Polymer Solar Cells |

We demonstrated enhanced device efficiency in the polymer solar cells introducing a solution-based niobium(Nb) doped titanium oxide(TiOx) layer. Nb-doped TiOx was synthesized by a sol-gel process and the electrical and optical properties were measured to verify the roles of the layer. Compared with the conventional devices, the polymer solar cells using Nb-doped TiOx layer exhibited a better performance. The optical spectroscopy, time of flight measurement, and the device characterization of the devices with the Nb-doped TiOx layer showed an increased additional absorption and enhanced electron transport property. This observation indicates that this Nb-doped TiOx layer acts as a good optical spacer by modifying the light intensity distribution inside the devices thereby creating more photo-charge carriers and facilitating the charge injection into the active layer. |
