제목 The self-assembly behaviors of norbornene-based polymers depending on side-chains
초록 A series of polynorbornenes (A3PN and BP3PN) is newly designed and synthesized to understand dendronized side-chains effect on the self-assembly structures. A3PN and BP3PN were synthesized via ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) with high molecular weights and narrow polydispersity indices. From the diffraction results combined with thermal and microscopic ones, we could identify the phase transitions and molecular packing structures of A3PN and BP3PN. A3PN with simple alkyl chain dendrons forms the columnar nematic liquid crystal phase. BP3PN with biphenyl mesogen and triethylene oxide linker between the alkyl chain and the polynorbornene main chain forms smectic A liquid crystal phase. It is realized that the different chemical structure and physical interaction of side chains result in the different self-assembly structures between A3PN and BP3PN.
