In this work, iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were deposited on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) by a simple chemical coprecipitation method and Fe3O4-decorated MWNTs (Fe-MWNTs)/polypyrrole (PPy) were prepared by oxidation polymerization. The electrochemical performance of MWNTs, Fe-MWNTs and Fe-MWNTs/PPy were determined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge characteristics in 1.0 M sulfuric acid electrolyte. As a result, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were uniformly deposited onto the MWNTs, resulting in an enhanced electrochemical performance of the MWNTs/PPy due to their high electric conductivity and increased charge transfer between MWNTs and PPy by bridge effect. |
