Gold nanoparticles have been widely applied in polymer sciences. In this study, Mono dispersed gold nanoparticles were synthesized using the citrate reducing agent. Sodium citrate was used as surface modified for enhancing the monodispersity of gold nanoparticles. Furthermore surface modifier gold nanoparticles were coated with mercaptosuccinic acid in order to introduce carboxylic acid on the surface of gold nanoparticles. Subsequently folic acid was conjugated to the mercaptosuccinic acid – coated gold nanoparticles(GM) to preferentially target KB cells (oral squamous cancer cells), as KB cells have folate receptors. Finally, Atto fluorescence dye (Atto 680) was conjugated to the nanoparticles to visualize the interaction of the folic acid – conjugated GM into KB cells. |
