Eutectic mixture (EM) promoted MgO has recently been revealed that EM be able to facilitate sorption-mediated carbonation by its strong solvation effect. In the cyclic process, however, CO2 capacity of EM-MgO decreased due to too strong solvation of the sorbent followed by agglomerates, blocking active surface. To solve this problem, EM promoted MgO-Al2O3 composites were synthesized. The sorbent dispersed with support Al2O3 exhibited enhanced performance in the process. EM-MgO-Al2O3 sorbent was analyzed by in-situ TEM with respect by CO2 sorption and regeneration at high temperature (>400oC). We could observe growth of nano-particles from the gas-solid interface of EM-MgO-Al2O3 not long after CO2 exposure. The changes of EM-MgO-Al2O3 will be discussed in detail in comparison to EM-MgO sorbent.
