A hologram is a result of recording three-dimensional stereoscopic images using the interference effect of light caused by two laser beams. Silver halide, DCG, photopolymer and photoresist have been used as hologram writing materials having refractive index change after laser exposure. However currently invented Material is difficult to implement updatable. In this research, we have investigated to develop holographic rewritable materials using refractive index change followed by cis-trans photoisomerizaion of azobenzene. We designed and synthesized green laser photoswitchable polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) having green laser photoisomerizable azobenzene side chain and high birefringent cyanotolane side chain. The synthesized monomers and polymers were characterized by NMR, MS, UV-Vis, TGA and DSC. The refractive index change properties of prepared polymers and rewritable hologram performance were also studied. |
