The development of catalys with excellent performance on Oxygen evolution reaction is critical for advancing energy conversion techniques. In this respect, catalysts based on 3d-transition metals have recently attracted much attention, but further development is needed. Here, we present a new heterostructure catalyst where CoO nanowire arrays are mixed with tungsten nanoparticles (W-CoO) and self-supported in a conductive carbon cloth. The effect in the W-CoO heterointerface promotes electron transfer and OER kinetics to promote the formation of oxyhydroxide species, an active site in the OER process. Various internal and external characterization methods are used to reveal deep insights into surface transformation and to investigate the relationship between the conversion to oxyhydroxide and OER performance. This report presents a novel understanding of the rational design and synthesis of catalysts with excellent performances as electrochemical segmentation electrodes for OER. |
