제목 | Characterization of paper surfaces by sytlus contact method |
초록 | Surface properties play an important role across many applications in the paper industry. They are critical in papermaking processes such as laminating, coating, printing and embossing. Surface properties consist of surface roughness and surface friction components. The former is topographical and the latter is mechanical. At present, however, it appears that the relationship between the two has not been clearly established. It is often observed that they are inconsistent with each other. That is, the surface of a higher roughness can exhibit a lower surface friction, and vice versa. In a contact method, a stylus has been commonly used as the probe. It has been identified that key variables for the stylus contact method are 1) the size and the shape of the stylus, 2) the contact force of the stylus on the surface, and 3) the scan speed of the stylus on the surface. It has also been identified that the optimal conditions of these variables depend on the paper grade. |
