Block copolymers' self-assembly provide approach to the manufacturing of various ordered phases. Among those morphologies, gyroid structures are very important because of their co-continuous and network structures. However, a block copolymer shows gyroid structures only at ~65% volume fraction of matrix block. In this study, we designed ABC/AB blend system. This blend shows core-shell gyroid structures at 80% volume fraction of the largest block. B (polystyrene (PS)) is the thick shell, A (polyisoprene (PI)) is the thin core part, and C (poly(2-vinyl pridine (P2VP)) is the thin matrix. Those block copolymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance. Morphologies of neat block copolymers and blends were characterized by TEM and small angle X-ray scattering. |
