Fabrication of (HEMA-MAETC) Hydrogel Bead for Detection of Nitro-compounds |

In this studies, ((2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-(2-(methacryloyloxy) ehtyl trimethylammonium chloride))(HEMA-MAETC) hydrogel beads were successfully fabricated via electro-spraying method by using photo-polymerization. We investigated their mechanical properties, water content, cell affinities and so on. Additionally, their surface charges were controlled by adding MAETC as cationic monomer in order to enhance attachment of negative charged cells. Moreover, with attaching Esherichia coli(E.coli) which is reactive to trinitrotoluene(TNT) as explosive material, HEMA-MAETC hydrogel beads were used for bio-sensors. The fluorescence intensity from TNT-reactivity bacteria in beads was 5 times increased compared with that from beads without treatment of TNT. |
