제목 Hierarchical and automatic construction of spike-like ultrathin polymer nanoarchitecture for spontaneous interfacial molecular alignment
초록 We present a novel facile strategy to fabricate spike-like ultrathin polymer nanoarchitectures that ensure spontaneous molecular alignment, fast response times, and low power consumption. Hierarchical structural design of copolymers that can automatically construct ultrathin nanostructures through interfacial self-assembly of an amphiphilic poly(dodecyl acrylate)-poly(acrylic acid) (PDA-PAA) comb copolymer on a hydrophilic ITO substrate was employed in this study. Polymer nanostructures with hydrophobic segment surfaces formed by the hydrophilic and cooperative interactions of the amphipathic copolymer ensure the automatic vertical molecular alignment of the liquid crystal. This approach demonstrated robust molecular alignment capabilities for LC devices and achieved a fast responsive polymer nanoarchitecture with low power consumption compared to conventional PI layers. The proposed ultrathin nanoarchitecture is highly scalable and cost-effective because it can be easily fabricated in a large area at low cost without complicated processes. We believe this approach will provide a wide range of applications such as flexible electronics and optoelectronic lenses.
