제목 | Investigation on Storage Ratio of Captive Ions in Flow-Electrode of FCDI |
초록 | Flow-electrode, novel concept to overcome for limitation of capacitive deionization (CDI), mainly consists of electrode material and electrolyte. However, it has not yet been specifically investigated whether the flow-electrode uses ion adsorption capacity completely in desalting process of flow-electrode CDI (FCDI) system, which is related with operating costs. An experiment was conducted to observe how many ion adsorption capacity of flow-electrode is utilized by a FCDI system. For this work, the relationship between the OCV (open circuit voltage) of FCDI cell and the amount of charged ions is determined by a comparison of OCV difference with respect to the number of times the flow electrode is charged. Furthermore, the ion storage ratio of constituent parts of flow-electrode was deduced from change of dissolved ion concentration in electrolyte. The results demonstrate that the flow-electrode does not fully use adsorption capacity and need further detailed investigations. |
