PHIC(-OH)2 and PHIC(-OH)3, well-defined hydroxyl end-functionalized poly(n-hexyl isocynate), were used as the macroinitiators for synthesis of rod-coil type miktoarm star copolymers. PHIC(-OH)2 and PHIC(-OH)3, as the rod type initiator, were synthesized by the Cu catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction of azido end-functionalized PHIC with ethynyl alcohol derivatives. These hydroxyl end-functionalized macroinitiators were suitable for the polymerization of L-LA and ε-CL through the ring opening polymerization mechanism. The AB2- type and AB3- type miktoarm star copolymers, PHIC-b-PLLA2, PHIC-b-PLLA3, PHIC-b-PCL2, and PHICb-PCL3 were synthesized as the novel rod-coil type copolymers with controlled molecular weights, narrow polydispersities, and controlled arm numbers. The self-organization behavior and thermal properties of the obtained miktoarm star shaped copolymers were characterized by TGA, DSC, and DLS analyses. |
