Condensation and Reduction of CO2 |
초록 |
We can expect analogical forms of CO2 that SiO2 can take in nature because carbon and silicon are in the same group in the periodic table. But while the macromolecular forms of SiO2 in nature are very stable, no stable condensed CO2 has been found yet. The condensation reaction of CO2 in acidic solution was tried. Trace of solid residue could be harvested after drying at 50oC. This means that CO2 can exist in solid form in mild ambient condition. When the solid was subjected to the FT-IR probe and it showed the fingerprint of CO2. And when it was subjected to the thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) with gas evolution monitored, the evolution of O2 could be observed from around 500oC. The comaprison of the FT-IR spectrums before and after thermal treatment and the Raman spectrum showed the modification of the original solid and the formation of graphite. This result makes sense in that the graphite is naturally stable and the condensed CO2 can be more easily reduced to become naturally stable graphite. |
