제목 FT-IR study on the stabilization reactions of poly(acrylonitrile-co-itaconic acid) for carbon fiber
초록 During thermo-oxidative stabilization, polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is converted into infusible and nonflammable fibers for further carbonization. The structure changes during stabilization depend on the composition of precursor. Generally, PAN precursor is incorporated with Itaconic acid (IA) comonomer because carboxylic acid groups can initiate cyclization reactions at low temperature. In addition, IA contains two carboxylic groups which provide more opportunities for interaction between carboxylic group and nitrile group. However, previous results suggested that the function of carboxylic acid unit is more complex than merely initiating the reaction. In this study, further study on the evolution of PAN structure was proceeded by tracing the changes of functional groups by using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The effect of IA content and IA distribution was also studied. Acknowledgement: This work was supported by a grant from KIST institutional program.
