Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) have been regarded to solve the safety problem like the leakage of liquid electrolyte popularly occurred in energy storage technologies. Thus, GPEs show the great potential power for energy storage. We synthesize GPEs which are consist of trimethylolpropane ethoxylate triacrylate (ETPTA), poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA), and lithium salt solution (1 M LiPF6 EC/DMC) through UV-light irradiation. By changing the composition of the GPEs, the mechanical properties and ionic conductivity can be easily adjusted. The electrode is filled with GPEs, which has the property of high ionic conductivity (~10-3 S/cm), to improve the interface characteristics between the electrode and the electrolyte. GPEs, which have the excellent mechanical strength and relatively low ionic conductivity (~10-4 S/cm), are used for flexible films on electrodes. GPEs play the role of electrolyte and separation membrane on energy storage. |
