제목 Electrodeposition of Polydopamine/polypyrrole on graphite felt enhances the interaction between electroactive bacteria and electrode and power density of microbial fuel cell
초록 The interactionsbetween electroactive bacteria and the surface of anode play an important rolein capturing the respiratory electrons from bacteria in microbial fuel cell(MFC). The physicochemical and electrochemical characteristics of carbonaceousmaterial influences biofilm growth and direct electron transfer (DET) in MFC.In this study, an electrodeposition of polydopamine (PDA) and polypyrrole (PPY)on graphite felt (GF), was examined. The MFC with the modified PDA/PPY-GFreached 920mW/m2, which was 1.5, 1.17, and 1.18 times greater thanthose of the GF, PDA-GF, PPY-GF, respectively. PPY provides electrochemicallyactive sites for DET between electrode and bacteria, while PDA has superiorhydrophilicity and adhesive force biofilm formation. These results show that co-doped PDA/PPY providesa strategy for electro-active biofilm development and higher bio-electrochemicalperformance in the realistic MFC reactors.
