Stretchable conductive adhesive is an emerging material due to its potential applications in various fields such as stretchable sensors and actuators. In this study, we demonstrate highly conductive adhesives with stretchability composed of silver, insulating particles, and silicone elastomer. The silver materials are replaced with a few micron-sized insulating particles in the silicone elastomer/silver nanocomposites by increasing the insulating particle volume contents to control the electrical and mechanical properties of nanocomposites. Experimental data show that the addition of insulating particles to these nanocomposites improve the electrical conductivity at the same silver content, while the silicone elastomer/silver nanocomposites have very low electrical conductivity at certain silver content. In addition, the percolation threshold concentration of the silver is reduced significantly when the additional insulating particles are added. |
