Microwave-assisted phenolation of acid-insoluble Klason lignin and its application in adhesion |
초록 |
Lignin, a by-product from forest waste and agriculture, is a promising alternative for fossil-derived materials. However, due to the high crosslinking between aromatic units in lignin structure, it needs to be modified before applicable for further usage. In this research, microwave system was employed for acid-insoluble phenolation. By using microwave irradiation, phenolation process can occur at minder condition (100 o C for 0 min) compared with conventional heating (180 oC for 6h). NMR, TGA, and DSC were used for lignin characterization and DFT was carried out to investigate the effect of microwave during the reaction. The solubility of modified lignin in organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran and methanol, is highly enhanced, which allows using lignin as adhesive on glass, polyethylene naphtalate, and polyimide. |
