Defining molecular orientation in soft matter has been interested in material science and nanotechnologies because it determines the macroscopic organization in self-assembly that influences on the performance in various soft matter based organic devices. Here, we controlled molecular orientation of liquid crystal (LC) on topographic patterns on a porous film, anodic aluminium oxide (AAO), as a function of pore diameter and interpore distance and observed the formed smectic A morphologies in depolarized reflection light microscopy (DRLM) and laser-scanning fluorescent-confocal microscopy (LSFCM) in order to find in-plane and out-of-plane molecular orientation, respectively. |
