제목 | Integrative utilization and conversion of lignocellulosic biomass |
초록 | Biomass can be regarded as an alternative renewable source for energy and other commodities due to its abundance, high energy content and sustainability. Nevertheless, given the recalcitrant nature of biomass and the technological bottlenecks associated with various transformation processes, the economic feasibility of biomass-derived fuels and chemicals are too low to compete with the existing petrochemical industries. Effective utilization of each component in lignocellulosic biomass has recently become an issue of great interest in the biorefinery area, therefore, fractionation has become the prerequisite and central unit operation in the biorefinery process. Next generation biorefineries will follow the model of the petrochemical industry by integrating low value fuel with high value chemicals. Accordingly, the fractionation process will require a significantly greater emphasis on the yield and selectivity of the process streams used for the production of fuels and chemicals |
