With the dramatic growth of the Lithium-Ion battery (LIB) industry, we are facing challenges with a vast number of spent LIBs. In particular, there is highlighted attention in the post-treatment of spent LIB owing to their fatal problems related to toxic substances and explosion hazards. Seriously, the conventional recycling of spent LIB is not only highly complicated but also an unavoidable destruction process. As a result, this has poor effectiveness and efficiency to apply the recycled materials back to the LIB. In addition, even if spent LIB can be reused, disposal is inevitable as further performance degradation. This study proposes a recovery method enabling to boost performance through redox reactions for intact recycling of spent LIB. Especially, the novel approach can successfully drive to supply additional Li-ion with a minimal opening at ambient conditions. We believe this can pave the way to innovative recycling of spent LIB with enhanced performance in the facile process. |
