Poly(L-lactide) Electrospun Fibers Reinforced with Nanocrystalline Hydroxyapatite for Engineered Scaffold Applications |
초록 |
Incorporating hydroxapatite (HAp) particles in the poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) using an electrospinning process, the HAp-reinforced PLLA fibers were developed for hard-tissue scaffold applications. Using poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) as a stabilizer, the nanocrystalline HAp particles were synthesized with 30 nm in diameter and 100-120 nm in length to form an micrometer-sized aggregate in the range of 2.2 ~ 3.2 μm. In the biodegradation process in a buffer solution, the hydrophilic HAp nanocrystals substantially increased the ion precipitation on the fiber surfaces, which could act as graft sites for osteogenic cell promotion. Compared with the pristine PLLA electrospun fibers, the HAp-reinforced PLLA fibers desirably sustained the fibrous structural integrity during biodegradation without fiber fragmentation. |
