In this study, microalgae is investigated as a biomass filler to fabricate bioplastics. Microalgal biomass has the advantage : it can be rapidly grown in waste water. Microalgae reinforced polymer composites have biological fixation of CO2 effect. In this study, green composites were produced by melt-mixing using HS2 with ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) as a matrix. Polymer composites were cross-linked by the addition of a small amount of radical initiator(dicumyl peroxide(DCP)). The interaction of DCP on EVA is controlled by HS2, which affects the properties of the polymer composites. Mechanical properties can be improved by controlling the temperature and DCP content. |
