Synthesis and Characterization of Biodegradable Elastic Hydrogels Based on Poly(ethylene glycol) and Poly(ε-caprolactone) Blocks |
초록 |
Novel biodegradable elastic block copolymer hydrogels were synthesized on the basis of PEG and PCL, which act as hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments, respectively. The hydrogels were synthesized by radical crosslinking of poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) and poly(ε-caprolacton) (PCL) that were modified to have terminal acrylate groups. Terminated acrylate groups of PEG and PCL were confirmed by FT-IR and 1H-NMR measurements. As increasing PEG contents and decreasing length of the PCL blocks, swelling ratio of the hydrogels increased. Also hydrogels with balanced hydrophilic/ hydrophobic block ratio exhibited a negative thermo-sensitive swelling behavior and could be repeated without any significant change in the initial swelling ratio. Degradation of hydrogels occurred over 3~8 months in vitro. Due to their biodegradability, biocompatibility, thermo-sensitivity, and elastic property, they are useful for biomedical applications such as tissue engineering and drug delivery system. |
