제목 Electrocatalytic Nitrogen Reduction Reaction on Niobium Nitrides under ambient conditions
초록 The Haber-Bosch process enabled to produce massive fertilizers contributing to human population growth. It has been the dominant method for ammonia production since its development in the 1900s. However, the process consumes more than 1~2% of global energy consumption and generates plenty of CO2 gas.

To cover these problems, electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction which is less-energy consuming and eco-friendly is actively studied. However, the catalysts studied so far have still low faradaic efficiency and production rate. Among the catalysts, Transition Metal Nitrides(TMN) are expected to have higher activity than others due to the unusual MvK mechanism.

In this study, NbN synthesized by Urea-glass route is the catalyst for NRR and electrochemical tests are carried out by CV, LSV and CA in 0.1M KOH. And, the produced ammonia and possible by-product hydrazine are detected by Indophenol Blue Method and Watt and Chrisp.
