DNA has recently emerged as a building block and controlling orientation of DNA molecules is necessary to form nanostructures. Therefore, we developed to control the DNA by using shear stress, evaporation-induced self-assembly and bulk elastic properties. [1], [2] The technology can easily control the molecules in a large area, but it has a limitation that only simple structures appear on a microscopic level. To fabricate complicated structures, predesigned template can be exploited. Due to the interaction between the DNA elastic properties and confinement effect of the template, a very unique and complex structure can be formed spontaneously. [3] Here, we conducted the shear experiments on micro-channel and square-lattice micro-post substrates to form novel DNA nanostructures. The pattern of the DNA on the template can be modulated by shear direction and channel-width, post spacing. This can provide applications to bio-template for polymers, liquid crystals or other nanoparticles. |
