제목 Effect of polymer matrix on BPO4 particle size in composite membranes prepared via a sol-gel process
초록 BPO4 incorporated composite membranes were prepared using a sol-gel process. The sol-gel process used tripropylborate and phosphoric acid to make BPO4 particles as precursors. BPO4 particles were successfully introduced and well distributed into matrix polymers. Two types of sulfonated polymers were synthesized by pre-/post-sulfonation method, i.e., sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and sulfonated poly(aryl ether ketone) (SPAEK). The SPEEK and SPAEK-6F membranes were characterized with proton conductivity, water uptake, ion-exchange capacity, TGA and SEM. The BPO4 particle size was greatly influenced with polymer matrix. SPAEK-6F made the particle size much smaller than SPEEK and it might arise from well-segregation of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic part of SPAEK-6F. The smaller size decreased proton conductivity of SPAEK-6F/BPO4 composite membranes than that of plain SPAEK-6F membranes.
